
BBQ chicken and beans are the most popular dish on the grill, and a lot of them are made with chili sauce.
They’re also super easy to make.
Here’s how to make your own.
(Published Monday, May 15, 2018)What you need to make:2 tablespoons olive oil1 small onion, diced2 cloves garlic, minced2 tablespoons chili powder1 teaspoon dried oregano2 teaspoons dried thyme1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper1/2 teaspoon black pepper flakes2 cups chicken broth1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese1/8 teaspoon salt1 cup canned chicken breasts1 1/2 cups tomato sauce, such as Tomato Ranch (Tomato, Vinegar, Worcestershire, Basil, Onion, Seasonings)1/6 cup chopped fresh parsley1/16 teaspoon saltFreshly ground black peppercornsTo prepare the chili:Heat olive oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
Add the onion, garlic, chili powder, oreganol, thyme, and pepper.
Saute for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
Add chicken broth and cook for 3 minutes, stirring to release any trapped air bubbles.
Add tomatoes and Parmesan and stir.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve hot.
To make the garlic sauce:Combine the oil with the garlic and add the chili powder.
Sauté for 1 to 2 minutes, or until fragrant.
Add vinegar and tomato sauce.
Stir to combine.
Add the chicken broth, chicken broth mix, and garlic sauce.
Mix well.
Pour the sauce into a blender and process until smooth.
Serve immediately.
